World Bank to Support Ukraine with up to US$2 Billion for development projects and decentralization reform

In the course of the meeting of Vice Prime Minister - the Minister of regional development, construction and housing and communal services of Ukraine Gennady Zubko and WB Country Director for Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova Qimiao Fan discussed the realization of initiated projects such as Development of city infrastructure (USD 140 million), Development of the city infrastructure, specifically reconstruction of water supply and water disposal systems (USD 350 million), energy efficiency in the centralized heating sector of Ukraine” (USD 382 billion).


Quimiao Fan underlined the Ministry of Regional Development is one of the key ministries of Ukraine the World Bank is ready to cooperate and support the implementation of reforms. The World Bank is going to support Ukraine with up to US$2 Billion in 2015.  

 

“Obviously, Ukraine needs more support. The World Bank is ready to provide such a support”, - assured Quimiao Fan.

 

All parties of the meeting agreed to develop and approve joint work plan, a road map for the implementation of the ongoing projects of energy efficiency and urban infrastructure development.

 

Moreover, the parties came to a common decision that an active communication campaign, as well as advocacy for the decentralization and measures for energy efficiency should be arranged appropriately.
